Help us make our third season the best one yet
It's December, and we're hard at work preparing for the third season of Basketball Friday Night in West Virginia! If you're a loyal listener, welcome back; we wanted to get you up to speed on what's in store for the 2015-2016 season. If you're just now finding basketballnight.com, we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and get you up to speed on who we are and what we do.
Basketball Friday Night in West Virginia is a student and volunteer-run radio show and website covering West Virginia boys and girls high school basketball. We're the state's only LIVE weekly program that covers both boys and girls hoops. We bring you the most in-depth and comprehensive coverage of the action on Friday nights as players, coaches and broadcasters from all over the state join us on-the-air and give us the scoop on the night's contests. Check out our affiliates page to find out where you can pick us up on the radio, or get our live video or audio feed anywhere in the world at basketballnight.com. We hit the airwaves with our season premiere on Friday, December 12, 2015 at 9 p.m.!
Once our three hours of airtime is up, we're still bringing you scores 24/7 at basketballnight.com and on Twitter, @hoops_roundup.
If you're new to basketballnight.com, here's some pro tips for using our website:
- Search for your team's schedule, past scores and current class standing
- Check today's schedule and reported scores on the Basketball Friday Night Statewide Scoreboard
- Looking for a scoreboard of a previous day's games? Click the Hoops Roundup button at the top of the site. The Statewide Scoreboard is archived as a Hoops Roundup every night at midnight, and the next day's schedule then becomes available on the Statewide Scoreboard page. The Scoreboard changes every day; Hoops Roundups are archived forever.
- There are several ways to submit scores to us: by text (304-249-4924), by email ([email protected]) and by tweeting @Hoops_Roundup.
And that's where you come in. We will report more than 3,000 game scores over the next three months. Though we strive to report every score from every game every night, we cannot track every score down without your help. We actively check the WVSSAC website, our email and text inboxes, and our Twitter notifications as well as the #wvprepbb and #wvgirlsbb hashtags for final scores. We try to obtain every score, every night so that our database has the correct information for our show's hosts, producers and most importantly, our viewers and listeners. Please help us help fans and followers of West Virginia high school basketball by sharing or otherwise publishing final scores.
If you have browsed our site, you have also probably noticed that many games are entered twice on our website, and some games are missing. We pulled every game from the WVSSAC database the weekend of Nov. 21-22, 2015. If one team entered one starting time for a game and the other team entered another, it is listed on our site as two different games between the same two teams. Many teams also failed to have their schedules posted when we pulled data from the WVSSAC database (and unfortunately some teams have still not submitted their schedules to this day). We welcome and encourage coaches, players or parents to send us schedules or corrections to our current information, as we solely rely on data on the WVSSAC website as accurate when we publish schedules to basketballnight.com at the beginning of the season. Once it begins snowing and games are inevitably cancelled and postponed, we also encourage our listeners and visitors to share reschedule dates and cancellation information with us so we can pass the word along to our visitors and update our database. Again, we cannot get all the score and schedule information for all 125 boys and girls teams without your help.
Ryan Epling, Ric Morrone and James Collier will be back for our third season on-the-air. We hope to feature even more student-athletes from around the state and showcase the successes of teams and individuals from every corner of West Virginia. You never know when our Basketball Friday Night producers will call you or your team up to be featured on the show!
As always, thank you for visiting basketballnight.com and making us the state's go-to source for high school basketball scores and talk. We hope you join us for our season premiere show Friday, December 12, 2015 beginning at 9 p.m.!

How Your Team Can Be on Our Set
The photo above is the Basketball Friday Night television set. While everyone at Basketball Friday Night thinks it looks fantastic, we all agree that there's something missing that could take it over the top and make it amazing. That's where you come in.
We're looking for t-shirts, old jerseys and other "swag" your school may have, no matter how big or small or outlandish it may be. We want to make our set look as representative of basketball in West Virginia as possible.
If you have something you think would look good and would like to send in to have us add to the set, send us an email at [email protected] so we can make arrangements to get the item(s) to our set.
Tune in each Friday night to see what new items we've added. You might see something from your school!

New at basketballnight.com: Basketball Night Statewide Scoreboard
One of the biggest problems we've noticed over the past two years while doing our weekly radio show is the lack of a comprehensive, centralized database and "scoreboard" for each night's high school basketball contests. We debuted our brand-new boys and girls basketball master schedules last week, along with standings tables for each division of play. Tonight, we're going a step further.
Introducing the "Basketball Night Statewide Scoreboard," your one-stop source for the day's scheduled games and final scores. Every day, the Basketball Night Statewide Scoreboard will update with that day's information, which is pulled from our database of every game in the state. No matter what score you're looking for, basketballnight.com/scoreboard is where you'll find it.
Of course, we can't post the scores unless we hear about the scores. Let us know by Tweeting your final score at @Hoops_Roundup. You can also email your score to [email protected], text it to 304-249-4924 (standard messaging rates may apply) or fill out our online score submission form. No matter how you get your team's final score to us, we'll try to have it on our website within a few minutes of receiving it.
Let us know what else you'd like to see on our website or on our show in the comments below!

Master schedules now online!
Two days from now, Basketball Friday Night in West Virginia crew will be back on the air! We hope you're as excited as we are. Luckily, though, we've got you covered with the latest high school basketball scores all week long – not just on Friday nights.
You'll notice on the menu bar above that we now have a few new tabs. "Schedules & Scores" takes you to the master schedules for boys and girls basketball – a one-page resource of EVERY score, and EVERY game scheduled through the end of the season. We're working with journalists, fans and coaches statewide to make our website the definitive resource for West Virginia high school basketball scores. You can help us out, too: tweet your team's final score with the hashtag #wvprepbb (for boys) or #wvgirlsbb (for girls) and mention us, @Hoops_Roundup. We won't be able to do this without everyone pitching in.
The "Standings" tab on our website will also be a useful resource for basketball followers. There are six pages (all three divisions, boys and girls) that show each team's record, ranking among other in-class teams and other interesting stats you won't find anywhere else.
These features have been months in the making. We hope our website becomes a useful resource for basketball fans across the state, and we hope you tune in to our season premiere on Friday, Dec. 12 from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.!
